College Countdown: Basic College Packing List

In this list I'm not going to go over every single thing.  Throughout this week I will do separate posts on Clothing and Makeup etc.  On Saturday of this week I will post a concise version of this including everything mentioned.  For now I would just like to go over basics such as kitchen items, "school supplies" and other items you may not have thought of!

Kitchen
These are basics that you might need if you are in a dorm and do not necessarily have a kitchen.  I will have a sink, so it will be doable for me to wash dishes as needed.  If you do not have a sink you might consider buying disposable silverware and dishes so you won't have to wash them in the bathroom.
  • Plastic Bowls
  • Plastic Cups
  • Tumblers or Reusable Water Bottles - I recommend this regardless of if you have a sink.
  • Brita Pitcher - The water will probably be different from what you are used to, and this will make the transition easier
  • Ice Cube Trays
  • Plastic Ice Cubes - If the water is just too gross or you don't want your drink watered down.
  • Forks and Spoons
  • Kitchen Knife
  • Paper Plates - I am bringing reusable dishes, except for plates.  Paper plates are cheap, easy, and you probably won't even go through a pack in a year
  • Travel Mug - For hot drinks
  • Mug(s) - Just not too many!
  • Tupperware - Not a ton, just a few small containers
  • Chip Clips
  • Ziplock Bags

  • Broom and Dust Pan
  • Vacuum Cleaner - Ok, this one I'm kind of on the fence about... I kind of wish I had one because our rug is pretty gross, but to a certain degree it also seems impractical. I don't know!
  • Lysol - What if your roommate gets sick??
  • Fabreze - Dorm rooms stink...
  • Clorox Wipes
  • Windex - If you have a mirror in your room

Laundry
  • Laundry Bag/Hamper
  • Laundry Detergent - I suggest the pods if you don't have an in room washer
  • Fabric Softener/Dryer Sheets
  • Stain Stick - Must have!
  • Scarf Hangers
  • Hangers - Like I've said before, many people reccommend the thin felt hangers, but I just use the cheap plastic ones and completely happy with it!
  • Sewing Kit
  • Safety Pins
  • Wrinkle Removing Spray - Who needs an iron when you can just spray your clothes and let the wrinkles fall out!
  • Tide-to-Go Pen

    Walmart Box: Spring

Out of school and back to Wednesday posts!  And we are kicking off this extra posting day with... The new Spring Walmart Box!  I know I always post these pretty late, and I don't know why, because I really do love them!  And for $5?  You really can't beat it! This is the Dove Advanced Care deodorant in a scent very similar to the cucumber scent that everyone used to be crazy over in the 90s... I was sick of it then, but it was kind of nice to have a little throwback sample!  I've used the heck out of it and it has held up well! This is the Schwarzkopf Gliss Hair Repair Ultra Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner.  It is made to intensely hydrate and soften hair.  I am always looking for new baby shampoo and conditioners to take with me on trips! This is the BiorĂ© Baking Soda Acne Scrub.  At some other point I had received the pore cleansing scrub, and I am very interested in what the difference is, if there is one.  What I mostly remember about the other one

    My Petal Club

A new box!  And a PERIOD subscription box at that!  I love finding new boxes to try out, especially when they are this affordable!  This box is normally $6.99 per month, but if you use the discount code "SUMMER" on mypetalclub.com , this box will be only $3.50!  And let's be honest, one box of pads/tampons is usually more expensive than that, so why not give it a try?? So this box primarily consists of just the period products with very few extras.  This isn't one of the present, feel-good kind of boxes, it just provides you with the necessary products to get through the month, at an affordable price. Step One The first thing you do on their website is choose the combination of products you will need.  Be warned, you aren't given as much of a selection if you order through Cratejoy like I did.  It worked totally fine and I still got the products I needed, but I like choice!  So I suggest going straight through their website.  You are going to get

    St. Ives Influenster VoxBox

Good news, I received another Influenster VoxBox!! This was a Holiday campaign following New Years, and was sponsored by St. Ives.  Now as always, I did receive these products for reviewing purposes, but all opinions are completely my own! Oatmeal Scrub and Mask If you are used to their ever popular Apricot Scrub, this is quite a different experience.  Where the Apricot Scrub has large abrasive pieces, the Oatmeal Scrub has smaller and gentler pieces, but significantly more of them.  This also has a much thicker and stickier consistency, with a smell that is reminiscent of sunscreen.  The way I chose to use this was as a mask.  I applied a generous amount to my face, rubbing in circular motions, making sure it was fully scrubbed and evenly covered.  The bottle recommends letting it soak in for 5-7 minutes.  After the lime elapsed, I put some water on my fingers and rewet the mask, scrubbing in circular motions once again, and then rinsed!  This was the 6 oz bottle, which re
