Blueberry Crush Sangria

I'm considering a new series on this blog... How would you all feel about wine Wednesdays?  Not every Wednesday of course, but just to mix things up sometimes!  Most all of the drinks I make end up being something I concoct from various ideas and recipes I see online, and then add wine to it, and voilĂ , wine punch!  And I see a distinct lack of wine punch or creative sangria recipes on Pinterest, so look no further; I'm coming to the rescue!
I made this drink recently for a party in which the color theme was purple, so of course we had to have a purple drink!  It was met with much praise, and I highly suggest giving it a try!  It is a very sweet drink, but can be toned down based on your preferences.  It would be the perfect way to bring in Spring!
(If it is actually Spring where you live, we just pretend here, it is still snowing)

Ingredients

Blueberry syrup:

  • Bag of frozen blueberries (minus 1/3 cup.)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 cups water

Sangria Base:

  • 1/2 cup Blueberry vodka (or vanilla, or plain... use your best judgement on if you think the flavors would mesh well)
  • One 750ml bottle of Pinot Grigio
  • 3 lemons, juiced
  • One bottle of Sparkling Wine (Brut, or Extra Dry depending on how sweet you would like it to be)

Garnish:

  • 2 sliced lemons
  • Frozen blueberries
  • Fresh mint

Directions

  1. Place blueberries, sugar, and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for five minutes.  Cool, strain, and chill the syrup.  (Save the cooked blueberries for later, you can turn them into a blueberry compote!)
  2. In a pitcher, mix the chilled blueberry syrup, vodka, lemon juice, and Pinot Grigio. Stir well and allow to sit for a few hours, or overnight.  If it is too sweet you can play with the vodka and lemon juice rations to tone it down.
  3. Before serving, add the reserved 1/3 c. of frozen blueberries, sliced lemons, and mint to garnish.
  4. Finally, pour in the champagne last to preserve as many of the bubbles as possible.  Serve chilled and in large portions!.

Mail Time: TheECPlannerKitLady Sticker Haul

So apparently Halloween was mail day for me!  I checked my mailbox that morning after class and found a few fun things, and then later I got a notification that a package had been delivered, so why not check again?  I found my package and another letter!  It hadn't been such a great weekend, so finding all of the fun things waiting for me on Monday perked me right up! I got three cards, one from my mom, my mom's coworker, and my grandmother!  I thought it was fun that all three had puppies. My mother also sent me a huge box of Halloween goodies!  Candy, tattoos, donuts, fake bugs, all kinds of fun stuff! But now on to the true meat of this post, I recently placed two orders with  TheECPlannerKitLady  on Etsy!  I know two is a bit excessive, but first she had a sale, and then she offered a discounted grab bag, both just for members of her Facebook group !  Planner stickers can be very expensive, so I jump at opportunities to...

Empties!

I would just like you all to know that I did NOT use up all of these up this month, or even some time lately! I have been collecting these since back before Summer even! So no hate please and I'm not bragging, I just thought it would be a cool post :) Shampoo & Conditioner Pantene Smoothing Shampoo - I liked this, it smelled really good, but I couldn't really tell a difference when I was using it. It didn't make my hair any less frizzy than any other products. I might repurchase this later, but I like to change up my shampoo and conditioner pretty often Pantene Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine Hair - First of all, I do not have fine hair I actually have quite thick hair! So I got this sort of by mistake... Also, I got the Shampoo as a smaller size free with the conditioner. I feel the same way about it that I do the Conditioner above, It didn't do a whole lot but it was nice. So I may or may not repurchase it again. VO5 Clarifying Shampoo - I a...
