Glossybox: August (A Cautionary Tale)

So let's talk about Glossybox...  Originally I subscribed when they had a special, three months for $30.  I thought it would be a cheaper way to try something new and see how I liked it, and maybe spice up my content.  I was sadly disappointed.  I wouldn't reccomend Glossybox to anybody.  My subscription was supposed to start in July, but that box never came.  I contacted them about it, and it took a month to get a reply simply saying they would look into it and get back to me the next day.  I waited another week before emailing them again, and at this point I was very upset.  After demanding a reply, explanation, and my box which I had paid for, lo and behold I finally received a tracking number, as well as 100 very useless "Glossydots."
I began to understand that this is not an individual problem and there were many people who didn't receive their boxes and were not getting a reply from their customer service department.  Yet they didn't seem to care.
After finally receiving the tracking number I decided to cancel.  I didn't want to cancel before because I felt I should wait until they sent me what I had paid for.  Come to find out you have to cancel before the 14th of the month to get out of being charged again.  And they don't just charge you for another month, they are trying to charge me for another three month subscription.  That is $60 they are trying to take out of my account for something I did not order.

I don't like posting negative things like this, but this needs to be said.  I am extremely disappointed in every aspect of this company.  Truly, it was pathetic.

I'll give you all a cursory glance at what I received, but I will never be posting about them again.

I recieved this Doucce Freemantic Bluch that is not actually in a compact and has a magnetic back.  The information card alluded that is was to go with something in my July box, but I never received that.  I have also never heard of this brand.

This is the Pixi Brow Tamer.  I don't use brow products and Pixi isn't a a high end brand, it is super easy to find at any Target.  I wasn't impressed.

This is the Lancome Monssieur Big Mascara.  This was the only thing from the box I was excited about.  I love mascara and Lancome, so at least they got one thing right.

This is the Rituals Zensation Organic Rice Milk and Cherry Blossom foaming shower gel.  I liked the concept, but it didn't smell the best.  This is also an insanely obscure brand.

This is the Bliss Blood Orange and White Pepper Body Butter.  This doesn't smell great and it is a tiny size, but I guess it's a pretty good brand.

If I had actually paid full price for this box, I would be pissed.  As it is I'm pretty mad.  Oh well, I guess I'll just have to be more careful when I order from now on, so I hope you all learn from my mistakes!

My Petal Club

A new box!  And a PERIOD subscription box at that!  I love finding new boxes to try out, especially when they are this affordable!  This box is normally $6.99 per month, but if you use the discount code "SUMMER" on mypetalclub.com , this box will be only $3.50!  And let's be honest, one box of pads/tampons is usually more expensive than that, so why not give it a try?? So this box primarily consists of just the period products with very few extras.  This isn't one of the present, feel-good kind of boxes, it just provides you with the necessary products to get through the month, at an affordable price. Step One The first thing you do on their website is choose the combination of products you will need.  Be warned, you aren't given as much of a selection if you order through Cratejoy like I did.  It worked totally fine and I still got the products I needed, but I like choice!  So I suggest going straight through their website....

Review: Etsy Body Products!

Whipped Up Wonderful Whipped Up Wonderful is a wonderful Etsy company that I have had the opportunity to order from multiple times now, as you all saw in my  Truffle Themed Present  post. In this such oder I chose the Cinnamon Bun Bubble Bar.  First of all, it looks and smells exactly like you could just pop it in your mouth and eat it! It is $7.99, and can be broken apart and used for multiple baths.  As I said, it smells heavenly, makes tons of bubbles, and because the majority of the product is Cocoa butter it makes the water incredibly silky!  She has a fun promotion going, that if you post a picture of your products from her shop and she reposts your picture, you can mention it in you next order and get a free random bath bomb!  That is what I did in this case, and received the Orange Peel Bath Bomb.  I tend to go for warmer food scents, and this is a very herbal scent, but I will definitely still put it to use! One thing I love abou...

Degusta Box: October

I hadn't ever heard of this subscription box until I received an email about a promotion they were having.  This is a $19.99 subscription box, but they were offering a special discount for $6.99 plus two free gifts!  I figured, why not give it a try? It came in a HUGE heavy box!  Inside it was wrapped with a cute little sticker, and everything even moderately breakable was packaged in bubble wrap.  I was immediately impressed.   I thought I'd show the two sweet little extra gifts they sent me first... You can't tell as much in this picture, but this is a quite large bag of mini cow tales!  They also sent me a bag of Haribo sour gummy bears.  I am not a big Haribo fan, but these seem similar to Sour Patch Kids, which I love, so maybe they will be good!  I can't really complain too much anyway since they were a free gift with the box!  And candy! Perfect for Halloween. Now let's get into the actual products in th...
