Ipsy: May

We are back again with an old classic!  I have had Ipsy for years and paused it on and off from time to time, but it is definitely still my favorite subscription by far.  If you would like to sign up, you can click here!

I had planned to review this one, but I have to say, I was pretty disappointed with the contents of this bag!  The last few have been great, so I was pretty shocked!  The actual bag however is glittery and gorgeous !

The first thing in this bag that I was most excited about was this full size Ofra liquid lipstick in the color Versailles.  The color is ok in the tube, but on the lips it is very shimmery to the point of having a frosty finish with no color whatsoever.  Also, when I took the wand out of the tube it looked separated... Somehow simultaneously oily and chunky.  I tried to mix it a bit, but as a result it felt more like a gloss than a liquid lipstick.  Disappointing...

This is the Innisfree pore clearing clay mask.  This is a cool product in theory, but I received this same sample for free from their website...  I haven't tried it yet, and I love clay masks, so I'm not knocking the product itself.  But that being said, I'm more disappointed in the company for giving out a sample customers could have easily gotten for free.

This is The Beauty Crop Bronzer in Sardinia Sand.  Honestly, this looks like "play makeup."  The packaging looks incredibly cheap, and when I was taking off the outer plastic and attempting to open it I legitimately thought I might break it.  I subscribe to Ipsy mainly to get samples of well known prestige brands.  I understand that doesn't always happen, and sometimes the unknown products are just as good or better, but this one fell short for me.  It is too basic, and just doesn't really fit my profile.

The name of this product, Kaleido Cosmetics, had me excited it was going to be a very shimmery or color-shifting.  When I saw it was a blush I was a bit more disappointed, because I have an ungodly amount of blush, but this is a nice basic shade in the color Primadonna.  I can't complain, but I'm not super excited either.

This is the Multi Purpose Stick from Nature's Cartel in the color GlowBal Awakening #1.  I have never been a huge fan of stick products.  I like highlighters, just not really in this form.  It looks nice and I will try it out, but I'm not overly impressed.

Here are swatches of three of the products.  At the top is The Beauty Crop Bronzer in Sardinia Sand.  In the middle is the Kaleido Cosmetics blush in Primadonna, which had a nice shimmer in the light.  At the bottom is the Multi Purpose Stick from Nature's Cartel in the color GlowBal Awakening #1, which truly is a nice color.

All in all, I can't say I'm thrilled.  This was a very makeup heavy bag, which I prefer, but somehow it still missed the mark just a bit.  I went online and reviewed my bag, which is the best thing you can do when you get something you don't like.  I'm sure next month will be better!  If you would like to sign up, you can click here!

VoxBox: Tressemé Beauty-Full Volume

I know I don't usually post at 9 o'clock on Monday nights, but I wanted to go ahead and get this out to you all while I had time, because... I got another VoxBox! This one was the Tresemmé Reverse Your Routine box with a full sized shampoo and conditioner. This is a Volumizing system, and is reffered to as "Reverse Your Routine" because you conditioner before you shampoo... Weird right?  I have to say I was a little confused and skeptical at first. The concept is that when you put conditioner in your hair and rinse then residue is left on weighing down your hair.  My thoughts were that the residue left were the moisturizing properties and that you wouldn't want to rid yourself of all of them... It just seemed a little pointless. I have been using this combination periodically for a few weeks now, and surprisingly I actually really like it!  When I get out of the shower my hair does feel much lighter than usual.  Though it is hard to tell if I have...

My Everyday/Travel Makeup Bag

So as I was putting together the list for makeup bag that I will have with me in the car when I go on my trip to the beach this summer, I decided that you might want to know exactly what's in there and why I bring them :) The first thing I going to show you is this awesome pallet I found in a discount makeup store: It is a "Sweet by Day, Sexy by Night" pallet. On one side it has a dark brown and a champagne shade eye shadow, a light and a dark shade of bronzer, a light and dark brown shade of lipgloss, and two small applicators. On the other it has a light shade of pink and an almost purple eye shadow, a light and dark shade of blush, a light and dark shade of pink lipgloss, and two small applicators. You can buy it at www.amazon.com/day-to-night for $5. I thought this was the most simple way to pack all that i would need! Next I'm going to show you the face products I am bringing: They are: The Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder The ELF Aloe Infus...

Winter As a College Student

Let me just tell you, there isn't a thing in the world fun about a dorm room in the winter!  On the happen chance that yours is as old as mine (pre-1960s, thank you very much) you probably have radiators too, which personally, I have very little control over.  Even on the off setting they exude so much heat that the room is stifling!  And then you open the window and snow starts blowing in... Yay Appalachian Mountains! Let's just all agree that is quite a process.  So what is one to do to combat these cold (and getting colder!) temperatures? First, I've got two B's for you (mostly because I couldn't come up with a third...)  Blankets and Bedwarmers! Let's face it, dorm rooms are tiny and your bed is the focus of the majority of decor, as well as where you will be spending a large portion of your time (yay Netflix binges!) so you need to make sure it is super cozy! Personally, I have my sheets and comforter that I sleep under every night.  ...
