St. Ives Influenster VoxBox

Good news, I received another Influenster VoxBox!!
This was a Holiday campaign following New Years, and was sponsored by St. Ives.  Now as always, I did receive these products for reviewing purposes, but all opinions are completely my own!

Oatmeal Scrub and Mask
If you are used to their ever popular Apricot Scrub, this is quite a different experience.  Where the Apricot Scrub has large abrasive pieces, the Oatmeal Scrub has smaller and gentler pieces, but significantly more of them.  This also has a much thicker and stickier consistency, with a smell that is reminiscent of sunscreen.  The way I chose to use this was as a mask.  I applied a generous amount to my face, rubbing in circular motions, making sure it was fully scrubbed and evenly covered.  The bottle recommends letting it soak in for 5-7 minutes.  After the lime elapsed, I put some water on my fingers and rewet the mask, scrubbing in circular motions once again, and then rinsed!  This was the 6 oz bottle, which retails between $3.99 and $4.79.  It also comes in a larger 10 oz size, and of course comes in the Apricot Fresh Skin variation!

Refresh and Revive Body Lotion
This is a very summer-y smelling lotion!  It smells exactly like pears, but not in an overpowering way.  The first thing I noticed about this lotion, would be the way it dries.  Most lotion leaves a temporary sticky feel, but this soaks up instantly, leaving your skin feeling super soft, but not inhibiting dressing! This was a 21 oz bottle and retails for $4.99.  This also comes in an Oatmeal and Shea Butter Nourish and Soothe variation.

Even and Bright Body Wach
This product also has a very summer-y smell, but like grapefruit!  It claims to be an exfoliating product (hints the "Even and Bright"), but I'm not so sure about that.  The exfoliating pieces seemed to be few and number and extremely small in size.  So if you are looking for exfoliation, this is not your best bet.  But for just an everyday body wash, it has a very nice lather and is enjoyable!  This was a 24 oz bottle and retails for  $4.99.  It also comes in a smaller size (13.5 oz) for $2.99, and comes in the Oatmeal and Shea Butter Nourish and Soothe variation as well!

Overall I enjoyed all of the products.  It seems as if they are attempting to target two different seasons/skin types.  They have the fresh bright summer scent line that I received the body wash and lotion from, and the warmer winter scent line with moisturizing shea butter that I received the face scrub from.  Expanding your horizons beyond Apricot scrub, good job St. Ives!
(And as a side note, they contacted me on both Instagram and Twitter to ask if they could use this picture on their website!)

Ipsy: June

My June Ipsy bag!   Probably my least favorite part of this bag... was the actual bag.  It's quite ugly, but the products are good for the most part! This Be a Bombshell lipgloss in Secret is ok… It’s a nice brand, so I’m not mad at it, it just isn't my favorite.  I put it on and it had almost a concealer like tint instead of the pretty pinky nude in the tube.  I have used it since and if used with a lighter hand, it's ok. I love this Formula X nail polish by Sephora in Wingwoman!  It is such a nice dark pink/red color, and it didn't chip!  Do you know how hard it is to find a nail polish that doest chip on me? This Three Tone "Bronzer" by Crown Brush is ridiculous... It looks like little kids play makeup.  It has a strip of bronze, a strip of pink, and one of a "highlight," and as soon as I took it out of he box the packaging fell apart.  I didn't even bother trying it, I just listed it on a swap website. But t...

Apple Pie Cupcakes!

I recomend to read this recipe all the way through before beginning to bake. I multi-task, but you need to find the order that works the best for you!  I will explain how I assemble and decorate them at the end! Cinnamon Cupcakes Ingredients: 1 cup milk 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature 2 cups all purpose flour 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon salt 4 large eggs 1 3/4 cups sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Directions: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line muffin tins with cupcake liners. Heat milk and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat until the butter melts. Remove from heat. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Using a  mixer with a whisk attachment, beat the eggs and sugar until thick ribbons form (about 5 minutes).  Add the flour mixture and beat on low just until incorporated. Don't over mix!  Add milk mixture and va...

Book of the Month: January

Have you all ever heard of Book of the Month Club?  It is a subscription box unlike any other one I've seen!  Instead of makeup, food, or home goods like most boxes, you get to pick a book to have sent to you every month!  It is the perfect thing for bookworms like me! This subscription is only $16.99 per month, and you can choose to skip a month at any time if the five options they are offering do not appeal to you.  But here is the catch, today is the last day of their Galentine's sale they are offering through the blog My Subscription Addiction (love that place!).  So if you use the code MSABOOKLOVER you can get a three month subscription for only $29.97 (normally $44.97) along with a Book of the Moth tote bag and free credit for an extra book ($9.99 value)!  So you are getting four books for only about $30, which is less than you could get them in a bookstore, and are saving $25 over what you would pay for a normal subscription!  I highly ...
