Mango Sangria

I am all about my Sangrias, and last week we were having a big cookout, so that basically begs for a sangria!  So for this week on Wine Wednesdays I am letting you all in on the perfect tropical, sparkling, sweet but not too sweet white sangria to accompany all of your summer cookouts!  I received high complements from this one, even from the guys who don't normally drink "party juice."  According to them, it was quite dangerous, and was the first drink gone!

Ingredients

  • Four Lemons
  • Two Oranges
  • Two Limes
  • Frozen Melon (Cantaloupe and/or Honeydew)
  • Frozen Mango
  • 1 Double Bottle (1.5L) Riesling
  • 1/3 cup Triple-sec
  • 1/2 cup Bacardi Mango Rum
  • 1 can Mango Nectar
  • 1 can Diced Mango in Juice
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) Extra Dry Sparkling Wine
  • 1 bag Frozen Berries (or more frozen melon/mango)
  • 1 Orange, thinly sliced
  • 2 Lemons, thinly sliced

Directions

  1. From the first set of ingredients, juice four lemons, two limes, and two oranges.  No fake or bottled juice here!  Only the fresh stuff.  And try to avoid getting the pulp in there as much as possible!
  2. Add the frozen melon, mango, Riesling, Triple-sec, and Rum to a pitcher. Top it with the citrus juice, mango nectar, and diced mango in juice.  Allow to sit overnight, or as long as possible before serving.  As the frozen fruit melts and the flavors come together in closer harmony the flavor profile will completely change, so make sure to make this ahead of time!
  3. Immediately before serving add the sparkling wine.  From the second set of ingredients we will also now add the sliced citrus for decor, and the frozen fruit to keep the drink cold throughout the night without watering it down.  I also threw some plastic ice cubes in there as well!
  4. To serve I pored mine in a punch bowl and topped with the citrus slices, but it can also be served in a pitcher, but be forewarned, it makes a lot!

Ipsy: June

So guys... I resubscribed to Ipsy!  Since I was back to having a summer job I figured I could spare $10 a month!  And so far, this bag wasn't the best, but I updated my profile so it will take a minute for them to readapt. The bag this month though... It is on my swap site on MySubscriptionAddiction if you want it!  Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. This is the Kokie nail polish in the color Gone Rio.  I hadn't ever heard of this brand before, but the packaging is adorable!  Apparently you can buy it at Walmart for around $5.  The color is a really nice orange-y coral and it has a decent lasting power considering how rough I am on my nails!  Overall I liked it and I would buy from this brand again. This is the City Color Shimmer Shadow in the color Cheers to Life.  It is a pretty basic sandy brown with a ton of shimmer, obviously!  City Color isn't my favorite brand to get because it is fairly cheap and the products are ki...

Spring Break 2016

Well I just finished an extremely short Spring Break... I was only given two days last week! Isn't that sad?  But hey, I had the most of it! I started out Spring Break (on Wednesday night) with a bonfire for my friend's birthday!  We have the perfect bonfire spot beside a river, and in the river lives otters!  It was too dark to see them that night, but they are my favorite animal, and I am looking foreward to many Summer bonfires with our otter friends!  I have never really been into the whole eno hammock thing, but my friend brought a double so I though, why not??  It was surprisingly comfortable, and we had a lot of fun celebrating her birthday together! But now the main event of Spring Break... On Thursday Maze (my boyfriend) and I went to a Flogging Molly concert in Charlotte!   But first I made him take me to South Park Mall, because it looked insane!!  And it was, though it took longer to get to Charlotte than we thought it wo...

DIY Bath Fizz

Personally, I love the little Bath Fizzes you can buy, they are just so much fun!! How fun would it Be to be able to make you own! Tools and Materials Baking soda Cornstarch Citric acid Spritzer bottles Food coloring Glass bowl Essential oil Baking molds How-To: 1. Sift 1 3/4 cup baking soda, 1 cup citric acid, and 2 cups cornstarch through a sieve to remove all of the chunks. To make different colors, fill small spritzer bottles with water and add about 6 drops of food coloring to each.  2. Pour 1 cup of the powdered mixture into a bowl. Lightly spray, stirring after each spritz, until powder is your desired color. Next, add water slowly, so mixture does not fizz. Check the consistency of powder with your fingers; when it can be tightly packed or shaped like sand, stop adding water (this may take a little while). 3. Select an essential oil. Add 5 drops if it's one of the stronger scents (peppermint or lavender), and 6 if it's a weaker one (lemon or grapefr...
