Homemade Beauty: Illuminated Skin

Highlighter + Moisturizer = Illuminated Skin  Simply mix your highlighter, with your favorite face moisturizer. M ix both products in the palm of your hands, and use your fingers to apply it to your face.  Apply this combo before you layer on foundation for a natural, dewy base.  If you want to simplify your makeup routine even more, swap the plain face moisturizer for a tinted moisturizer and you can skip your foundation all together! Just watch out for your T-zone! Your forehead, nose, and chin areas are the biggest producers of oil, and a heavy highlighter can make your skin look greasy rather than dewy. Just apply the mixture lighter in those areas.

How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes

So you could buy the expensive (and pointless) makeup brush cleaner from insanely expensive makeup companies (MAC!), oooooor you can make your own! :) You will need: dish soap or  Johnson's Baby Shampoo olive oil a plate water  paper towels or a dish towel  dirty, dirty, DIRTY makeup brushes The soap is going to remove the bacteria, grease, and color left on your brushes while the olive oil helps to condition the brush bristles and keep them from drying out. First , add equal parts of the oil and soap onto a plate. Start with about a teaspoon of each, then add more as you go along, if needed.  Next , swirl your dirty brush in the mixture. You will see all the leftover makeup start to flush itself out of the brush.  After you’ve swirled it around for 10 seconds or so, rinse the brush in lukewarm water to get all of the soap out. Continue to rinse until the water runs clear and the brush is no longer soapy. **Make sure not to get water into the

Texturizing Spray for Beachy Waves

This is an extremely easy texturizing spray you can use on your hair during the summer to achieve those perfect effortless beachy waves! What You Need: An Empty Spray Bottle A little of your Favorite Hair Gel Sea Salt Coconut Oil To Do: Fill the spray bottle with 1 cup (8 oz.) of water, use lukewarm water to help dissolve the salt and coconut oil.  Add one teaspoon of sea salt to the water.  Add about a half a teaspoon of coconut oil, you can use other essential oils but I chose this one for the nutrients it provides and the amazing beachy smell! Add a just dab of hair gel, this is just for hold so the waves stay in your hair. Put the top on the spray bottle and shake thoroughly. Spray your new texturizing spray on damp or dry hair and scrunch the hair up towards your head to create waves. Your done! :)

Homemade Beauty... Nail Polish Remover

So you are out of finger nail polish remover and can't make a trip to the store at the moment.... What now? You Will Need: Vinegar, Rubbing Alcohol, or Lemon Juice Warm Soapy Water Directions: Start out by soaking your nails in warm soapy water for five minutes to loosen up the nail polish. After you have done this soak a cotton ball in one of the three acidic substances listed above and use just like you would regular nail polish remover!

Collective Haul

I thought it might be fun to do a collective haul... a VERY collective haul, of all of some the stuff I have gotten over the past few months. And, since this is a collective haul, I can do a few mini reviews too :) I think I will separate it by when I got everything.... Valentine's Day Just a few things from Valentine's Day, mostly from my boyfriend :) The Carolina Tar Heels Bag - (in the middle back) A Carolina purse from... somewhere, I'm not sure where since it's from my boyfriend :)  Valentine's Day Bear - (front right) Also from my boyfriend, don't know where it's from either, but I love it! :) The Pink and Blue Pillows - (back) Didn't know those were part of the haul did you? I got them from my parents for Valentine's Day, so I don't know where they are from either! Candy! - I got the Conversation hearts in front of the bag from my boyfriend, and a lot more than that... but I ate it all ;) Easter Brown Wallet - (Ba

Homemade Beauty... Shaving Cream

How about a quick tip for today? Use baby oil, conditioner, or coconut oil instead of shaving cream. Basically, all that shaving cream is is foaming soap... It doesn't really have that many benefits for your skin and is just another thing that we have to buy. The whole point of shaving cream is to slick up your skin so you don't get cut by your razor. The three things above do the same thing, but they also moisturize your skin at the same time! I use Baby Oil when we travel because, lets face it, even the travel size shaving creams are huge! And a travel size baby oil is actually pretty small, and you don't need much when you use it. Win Win :)

DIY Beauty Tips and Tricks for Makeup

When you’re r unning low on lip gloss , place the tightly closed tube in a cup of warm water and let it sit for about 10 minutes. The heat from the water will melt any gloss on the sides of the container and you’ll have more available to use. Out and realize you forgot to put on blush ? Swipe some lipstick onto the apples of your cheeks and blend If your  eyeliner pencil  is too soft and crumbles when you attempt to use it, pop it in the freezer for around 15 minutes before applying. Getting tired of your everyday  lipsticks ? Or maybe you hit the bottom of a tube of your favorite and can't manage to scrape out the last little bit.  Create a new shade by cutting off pieces of two old sticks or scraping out the dregs at the bottom and melt them together in the microwave. Wait for them to re harden and apply with your finger or a brush. Use a credit card to  get the most from your mascara : Hold the card against your lashes and swipe mascara over the other side. You can
